ROCHDALE TOWN HALL WEDDING: AA'ISHA + MOHAMMED

I first met Aa’isha and Mohammed when I photographed their nikkah (Muslim wedding ceremony) in May earlier this year at Rochdale Central Mosque. Their nikkah was a small intimate occasion with very close friends and family. I remember, Aa’isha mentioning that she would be having a bigger wedding celebration in a few months time.

It’s always nice to work with the same couple or family again because you have this nice familiarity which makes for a more relaxed vibe and in turn more relaxed pictures because you know each other.  So when Aa’isha contacted me a a couple of months later to photograph her September wedding celebrations I was happy and excited to see the newlyweds again and see what she had planned for their special day.

The wedding celebrations took place at Rochdale Town Hall, which is a beautiful Grade I listed building in Greater Manchester built in the Gothic Revival style in 1871.

The stained glass windows in the town hall are STUNNING. The picture below is of the upper stairwell, which led to the main reception room.

Aa’isha waited in the bridal suite with her friends while Mohammed made his entrance. It was also opportunity for Aa’isha to make a few last few finishing touches.

Aa’isha put together a timeline of photographs and quotes in the entrance hall. It was really nice to see some of the photographs I had taken at her nikkah being featured (*proud moment*).

Alongside a guest book, wedding guests were invited to help themselves to wedding favours which came in the form of a CD with verses from the Quran.

How beautiful is Aa’isha’s wedding dress!!

Aa’isha was walked into the main reception hall by her Mum and Dad, where Mohammed and the wedding guests were sat waiting.

After, Aa’isha made her official entrance and dinner was served, we snuck out to photograph the bride and groom portraits, making use of the building, inside and out.

We were also invited to make use of the Town Mayor’s office.

After bride and groom portraits, we headed back to the main reception hall where Aa’isha and Mohammed mingled with guests and took pictures with friends and family on the stage.

Aa’isha and Mohammed, I wish you all the best in this next chapter of your lives together. It was real pleasure photographing you both and your families again.
